Identifier: Average Value

The problem is asking you to find the average value of a given function, $f\left(x\right)$.

In the case of a word problem, you are being asked to find the average value of the given function not of another function.

–           You are being asked to find the average velocity and you are given the velocity equation, v( t ) , to work with.

–           You are being asked to find the average mass and you are given the mass equation to work with.

Note: This is different than when you were asked to find the average rate of change . This is also different than when you were being asked to find the average velocity .
