Unit 2: Differentiation-Limit Definition and Fundamental Properties

Derivatives are some of the most fundamental tools of calculus. Just like limits were an extension of the algebra idea of a function value, derivatives are an extension of an algebra tool you have used a ton, finding the slope (average rate of change) of a curve.

Remember throughout this derivative process all you are doing over and over again is finding the slope of a curve.
